Satirist turns 49 in jail, still has 34 years to serve

zarganar_commedian.jpgBlogger, satirist, comedian and human rights activist, Zarganar, has just marked his 49th birthday in prison.

One of Burma's most prominent political prisoners, he is in failing health, according to his family.

He is still being held in Myitkyina jail in the north of Burma, 1,600 k from his home in Rangoon. There his health is worsening because of jaundice and high blood pressure.
